KH Gallery Ginza will hold the exposition on the occasion of commemorative publication of “HIROKO KOSHINO | it is as it is” celebrating Hiroko Koshino’s 60th anniversary as a designer.
The book features Hiroko Koshino’s collection looks from the 1978 to 2017 Autumn/Winter and paintings that she drew over the years. The exposition space will be designed by the graphic designer Ken Miki who also designed the book. Eight-meter three-dimensional art objects will visualize Hiroko Koshino’s philosophy according to the seven chapters of the book titled through “emptiness”, ”naturalness”, ”essentiality”, ”pairings”, ”cultivation”, ”play” and ”form”. The collection looks and paintings will also be presented to create the world of Hiroko Koshino. Moreover, the atelier where she has made clothes and paintings will be reproduced to directly convey her passion for the creation.
Hiroko Koshino has been pursuing a truly rich lifestyle by creating her own world of fashion and art in harmony with Japanese culture of clothing, food, housing, leisure, relaxation, knowledge and beauty, while flexibly adopting other cultures. She wishes to pass on its history and philosophy to society and to the next generation. Please enjoy the book “HIROKO KOSHINO | it is as it is”-the culmination of Koshino Hiroko who freely travels between the mode and art-and her history of creation.

The KH Gallery Ashiya is holding the “Susumu Notomi x Hiroko Koshino – The Blue, a second encounter” exhibition. Koshino who was starring in the NHK General TV’s show, “Tsurube’s Salute to Families” (Tsurube no Kazoku ni Kanpai) met the pottery maker Notomi while visiting Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture 7 years ago. The distinctive “Blue” colors of his work left a profound impression. The two became friends and held the collaborative exhibition “Susumu Notomi x Hiroko Koshino – The Blue where everything began” for the first time in KH Gallery Ginza last year. Enjoy a “Second encounter” in the KH Gallery Ashiya with its peaceful and breathtaking atmosphere designed by Tadao Ando this autumn.
Notomi talks about Koshino’s works of art and the awareness towards Ando’s architecture at the Ashiya exhibition. He wants to express an unprecedented “blue” like being in space in the solemn atmosphere surrounded by undressed concrete walls. His new pottery works created from this enthusiastic spirit will be on display. Koshino will exhibit her works of art including new items and new picture plates. Among her works, you can enjoy a wide range of colors including “blue” as well as the light and shade of black along with the glimmering of silver. The picture plates were created in an ambitious collaboration with Notomi creating the “blue” plates and Koshino adding the pictures with vivid colors.
This exhibition features pottery, pictures and architecture. Relax and enjoy this atmosphere where the uniqueness of the artists intersects on a profound level.

“Hiroko Koshino The Nature” is being hosted at KH Gallery. You can see colors and shapes that resemble vestiges and minerals that have been excavated, in paintings by Koshino. This exhibit is a collection of profound and dignified paintings that are contrastive with works that have flamboyant hues, by expressing nature and the passage of time. These paintings, with their elegant hues of gold, silver, and black, are not merely decorative, as they have appearances resembling natural objects that have existed since the distant past, such as minerals and celestial bodies. Also, the shapes and shadows of her relief works resemble land forms that were created by the passage of time. Her obsession with texture has created art in which you can see her attention to detail.
While painting, she comes closer to expressions of nature. Also, she reconstructs ancient materials and leads us to new ones. In our current generation in which artificial items are mass produced, these pieces are valuable expressions of art. By all means, come and imagine the eternal flow of time within nature.

“Hiroko Koshino Exhibit -COLORS-”will be hosted at the Isetan Shinjuku Store, Main Building, 5th Floor Art Gallery.
At this exhibit, pictures and fashion drawings that she has been working on, in addition to newly painted plates, will be exhibited at the same time,
while a large number of colorful creations will be shown to the public at the same time.
Her graffiti series, a collection of paintings she painted while being inspired by the graffitishe saw while on a trip in Greece, is one of her most colorful series. These are illustrations in which a large number of pictures drawn on small panels are rhythmically arranged, producing a space with an abundance of colors. Each piece is unique, and viewing all of them at once conjures up the image of streets and playgrounds, and these pieces can be appreciated individually or at the same time. Also, fashion drawings showing the fruits of her progress as a designer will be exhibited at the same time. More than 30 of her unpublished fashion drawings that have been newly reborn as giclee*prints will be exhibited to the public for the first time. Furthermore, the new painted plates that have been created thanks to the help of the NIKKO COMPANY will be exhi
bited. A variety of color tones are drawn on these white plates, and the phrase “Living with Art”, a concept of Koshino, is inscribed on each one.
These paintings, plates, and fashion drawing giclee prints will be collected together and put on display and on sale. KH Gallery is a place where guests can encounter different charms.
